UIA 2005 Istanbul Scientific Committee Prize
ZHANG FAN, WANG CHAO, ZHANG ZHIYUAN (PR of China) Location:A former heavy industry base in the Northeast of China. Extreme Situation:A large number of deserted chimneys and boiler houses becomes a big problem in the developing city. Proposal: The transformation of the deserted industrial elements, with respect to both history and spirit of the age. The project foresees that, in the future, the transformed elements will become the indication of the new communities; will house community activities such as exhibition, entertainment and commerce; will integrate the outline of the city and let the citizens to be proud of their industrial past.
